Preposition

A preposition is used to connect things by adding a relation between something and a thing. A preposition gives relative information about the location, direction, space, time, agent, tool, act or thing of things.

Kinds of Prepositions

There are many ways to classify or describe prepositions.

1. Preposition of Time: A preposition of time is usually "a word" telling the relative time of something with respect to a specific time.

   in, on, at, etc

2. Preposition of Place: A preposition of place is usually "a word" telling the relative place of something with respect to something else.

   in, on, at, etc.

3. Preposition of Direction: A preposition of direction is usually "a word" telling the relative direction or movement of something with respect to something else.

   to, toward, through, into, etc

4. Preposition of Agent: A preposition of agent is usually "a word" telling how something is related or connected by or with something else.

   by, with, etc.

5. Preposition of Tool: A preposition of tool is usually "a word" telling how something is done or completed by or with something else.

   by, with, etc.

6. Preposition of Act: A preposition of verb is usually "a word" telling the relation of the act of something with something else as an adverb.

   at, with, to, for, etc.

7. Preposition of Thing: A preposition of verb is usually "a word" telling the relation of something else in related with something as an adjective.

   with, etc.
