LaTeX Document Setup

The setup of a LaTeX typeset document is usually defined by the \documentclass command in form of a document class. However, additional document properties can also be defined by individual commands accordingly.

\documentclass

The \documentclass command is used to specify the fundamental setup of a LaTeX document.

Syntax

\documentclass [⟨option-list⟩]{⟨class-name⟩}[⟨release-date⟩]

Arguments

⟨option-list⟩optional, to specify the some typical properties of a LaTeX document. The options are separated by commas. Some typical document class options are Paper Sizea4paper, a5paper, b5paper, letterpaper, legalpaper, executivepaper. It should contain a date in the format YYYY/MM/DD.
