Drive Object

One key function of FileSystemObject Component is the manipulation of drives of the file system.

DriveObject.DriveLetter

DriveObject.DriveLetter property is a property to get and return the drive letter of a physical local drive or a network share referred to the specified Drive object instance.

Syntax:

DriveObjectName.DriveLetter

 Or in VBScript. Imply

drivelettername =DriveObjectName.DriveLetter

 Or in JScript. Imply

drivelettername =DriveObjectName.DriveLetter

Parameters:

drivelettername

The parameter "drivelettername" is the name assigned to the string returned by the DriveLetter property referred to the specified Drive object.

DriveObjectName

The parameter "DriveObjectName" is used to specify the name of the instance of the Drive Object related to.

Returns:

string

The return value of the DriveLetter property is the drive letter of a physical local drive or a network share referred to the specified Drive object instance. The DriveLetter property returns a zero-length string ("") if the specified drive is not associated with a drive letter, for example, a network share that has not been mapped to a drive letter.

Remarks:

DriveObjectName refers to a Drive Object.

DriveObject.DriveType property is a property to get and return a value to indicate the type of the specified drive or network share referred the specified Drive object instance.

Syntax:

DriveObjectName.DriveType

 Or in VBScript. Imply

drivetypevalue =DriveObjectName.DriveType

 Or in JScript. Imply

drivetypevalue =DriveObjectName.DriveType

Parameters:

drivetypevalue

The parameter "drivetypevalue" is the name assigned to the value returned by the DriveType property referred to the specified Drive object.

DriveObjectName

The parameter "DriveObjectName" is used to specify the name of the instance of the Drive Object related to.

Returns:

 value

The return value of the DriveType property is the value indicating the type of the specified Drive. The possible types of drive are:

Return Value Drive Type
0 Unknown
1 Removable
2 Fixed
3 Network
4 CD-ROM
5 RAM Disk

Remarks:

DriveObjectName refers to a Drive Object.

Parameters:

drivefilesystem

The parameter "drivetotalsize" is the name assigned to the value returned by the FileSystem property referred to the specified Drive object.

DriveObjectName

The parameter "DriveObjectName" is used to specify the name of the instance of the Drive Object related to.

Returns:

 string

The return value of the FileSystem property is the file system string of the specified Drive available. The possible values are FAT, NTFS, and CDFS.

Remarks:

DriveObjectName refers to a Drive Object.
